My
philosophy is simple: I believe that a photograph should evoke
emotion. If my work manages to do so, then I count
myself successful.
My
work simply represents a scene or idea that I was inspired to share
with
the world.
For
me, creativity comes from working with traditional materials.
Whenever
possible, all of my work is made with film and paper in a
traditional
chemical darkroom using archival materials.
The process
itself
has become a part of my motivation; I take pleasure in working
with
my hands, in much the same way other photographers have for
the
past hundred years.
As
I grew up, I was exposed to many forms of art.
From those experiences,
I
fell in love with photographs and their ability to tell a story. I began
making
images in 1997 while taking my first darkroom class. In 2005, I
decided
to take the craft seriously, and have since been working towards
my
degree in photography.
